Change of Plans

Just a quick update. Another ultrasound today. Kiki's fluid measurement is down to 3, or maybe 5. Normal is higher than 8. The doctors are starting to be more concerned about the baby. He is showing some slow heartrates on the monitor, and Kiki is having some cramping.

The range of time from when a mom's water breaks until delivery of the baby is generally within 48 hours. Some moms deliver within minutes, and a few can go for weeks before having the baby. Kiki's doctor says his "gut feeling" is that Champ will be born within a week.

Needless to say, Steven has cancelled his travel plans to come home this weekend. When I talked to him tonight, they were waiting to talk with the perinatologist to figure out what exactly the plan is going to be for the upcoming week. It sounds as if the next ultrasound will be important to determine how long they will wait.
